The owner didn't write this. This repo never submitted itself. The Cap'm found it on a truffle trawl and wrote its paperwork from what GitHub already shows. Picked by hand by the Cap'm on 2026-10-03: A webOS home screen that recreates the late-2008 Xbox 360 NXE dashboard on rooted LG TVs; its own README says "!NOTE AI Generated Software Ahead This project is entirely AI generated". 1 stars; MIT license. The owner did not submit this. Votes count; awards don't until the owner claims it.

I'm not calling your project slop! Geeze, it's a joke... Do you own this repo?

Log in with GitHub as lewisdoesstuff. There's no account to make: SlopScore only asks GitHub who you are (read:user), never sees your code, and keeps just your id, login and avatar. Then you can:

  • Keep it, on your terms. Commit your own slopscore.md (spec) and press Refresh. Your paperwork replaces the Cap'm's, and you can submit it for Slop of the Day.
  • Take it down. One click on Remove. It stays gone; the trawl never brings it back.

The Cap'm's log

The Cap'm wrote this paperwork, not the owner. This repo never submitted itself to SlopScore. The Cap'm picked it by hand: A webOS home screen that recreates the late-2008 Xbox 360 NXE dashboard on rooted LG TVs; its own README says "!NOTE AI Generated Software Ahead This project is entirely AI generated". It carries the MIT license. The disclosures above are his best guess from what GitHub shows.

Is this yours? Commit a real slopscore.md and press Refresh to replace this, or remove the listing in one click. There's no account to make: you log in with GitHub.

WebOS NXE

A home screen for rooted LG webOS TVs that recreates the look and motion of the late-2008 Xbox 360 NXE dashboard: a column of channels, a row of panes you move along with the remote, a boot sequence, toasts, a Guide overlay, HDMI input previews and a Steam friends list.

Note

AI Generated Software Ahead
This project is entirely AI generated.
While it works on my TV, it may not work on yours.

The home pane The Guide System Settings

It runs from file:// on the TV, and in desktop Chrome against a mock Luna transport for development. The app ships with an original default theme, and other looks load as theme add-ons (app/src/theme/).

Requirements

  • A rooted LG webOS TV, webOS 23 or later (the app needs Chromium 108).
  • The Homebrew Channel installed. First launch uses its root shell to finish the install.

Install

This isn't in the Homebrew Channel repo, so add it as a custom repo:

Add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/lewisdoesstuff/webos-nxe/main/repo.json in the Homebrew Channel's repository settings, then install NXE from the app list. Open it: the first run offers the Home button hook, starting at boot, a custom avatar and Steam sign-in, and each can be skipped.

To sideload an IPK instead, build it (below) and run ares-install --device <name> dist/ooo.lew.nxe_*.ipk, or follow the luna-send steps in AGENTS.md.

Develop

bun install
bun run dev # http://localhost:5173/?boot=off
bun run verify # check, lint, format and tests
./build.sh # IPK in dist/ (needs ares-package)

Start with AGENTS.md. ./build.sh needs ares-package from @webos-tools/cli. Tagging v* builds and publishes a release through GitHub Actions.

The Home button hook in service/home-hook/ is GPL-3.0; everything else is MIT.

Not affiliated

NXE is not affiliated with Microsoft, LG or Valve. See NOTICE.md.
