The owner didn't write this. This repo never submitted itself. The Cap'm found it on a truffle trawl and wrote its paperwork from what GitHub already shows. Picked by hand by the Cap'm on 2026-10-07: Tool for layered writing; its own README says "li ( and written by Claude Opus 5". 1 stars; Apache-2.0 license. The owner did not submit this. Votes count; awards don't until the owner claims it.

I'm not calling your project slop! Geeze, it's a joke... Do you own this repo?

Log in with GitHub as aartoghrul. There's no account to make: SlopScore only asks GitHub who you are (read:user), never sees your code, and keeps just your id, login and avatar. Then you can:

  • Keep it, on your terms. Commit your own slopscore.md (spec) and press Refresh. Your paperwork replaces the Cap'm's, and you can submit it for Slop of the Day.
  • Take it down. One click on Remove. It stays gone; the trawl never brings it back.

The Cap'm's log

The Cap'm wrote this paperwork, not the owner. This repo never submitted itself to SlopScore. The Cap'm picked it by hand: Tool for layered writing; its own README says "li ( and written by Claude Opus 5". It carries the Apache-2.0 license. The disclosures above are his best guess from what GitHub shows.

Is this yours? Commit a real slopscore.md and press Refresh to replace this, or remove the listing in one click. There's no account to make: you log in with GitHub.

Layered

Text on the web is flat, a habit inherited from paper. Layered is a small prototype for writing and reading text with depth. Any sentence can open into a page of its own, and each sentence on that page can open again, as deep as the writer likes.

Readers skim the surface and zoom in only where they care. Pinch on a shaded sentence and it grows into the headline of its own page. Pinch out to return.

Pinching into a shaded sentence: it grows into the headline of its own page, then zooms back out

Install and run

Requires Node.js 20.19+ or 22.12+.

npm install
npm run dev # http://localhost:5173
npm run build # production build in dist/

Use

Reading and writing happen on the same page.

Reading

  • Sentences with depth are shaded. The darker the shade, the more layers lie beneath.
  • Zoom in: spread two fingers on the trackpad over a shaded sentence, or click it.
  • Zoom out: pinch two fingers together, or ⌥-click.
  • The zoom follows your fingers and springs to the nearer end when you let go.
  • The strata map in the left margin shows the document's layers: a row per layer, a dash per page, its length the amount of text, placed under where its sentence sits. The page you're on is in ink and the path up to it in grey. Hover to see every layer and each page's title; click any page to go straight there, across as many layers as needed.

Writing

  • Click any blank space on the page (a margin, the gap between paragraphs, the end of a line) to edit it in place. The page lifts slightly while you write, and changes save as you type.
  • Select a sentence and press ⌘+ (or Add depth in the menu over the selection) to give it depth: it zooms straight into the sentence's new, empty page, ready for writing.
  • With the caret in a shaded sentence, ⌘+ (or Go deeper) goes into it; ⌘− goes out one layer (Ctrl on Windows and Linux). Remove depth flattens a sentence again.
  • On an inner page, the headline is the sentence you zoomed in from; editing it rewrites that sentence one layer up.
  • Bold and italic carry through every layer, headlines included.
  • Pinching works while writing too, and you keep writing wherever you land. Depth is added only while writing; reading is for exploring it.
  • Click anywhere outside the page to finish.

Your document saves automatically in the browser. Use Export and Import to move it around as JSON, and Reset sample to restore the example text. Reset sample replaces your current document.

How it works

Vite + React + TypeScript, with TipTap for the editor and Motion for the springs. Each page is a TipTap document. A sentence with depth carries a depth mark that points to the page it opens into (src/model).

The reader (src/renderer) turns a trackpad pinch into zoom progress. Chrome, Edge and Firefox report pinches as ctrl+wheel events; Safari has its own gesture events. As you pinch, the outer page and the sentence's page move together like one camera, so the sentence scales smoothly into its headline.

Credits

Idea. Inspired by Milo Johnson's idea of papers with clickable depth, proposed as the eLife Innovation Sprint 2021 project Building tools for readable papers with clickable depth.

Implementation. Authored by aartoghrul (alishbay.li) and written by Claude Opus 5.5.

From the balcony · 4 of 4 clapped

  1. Princessclapped
Live demo works, clear run instructions, Apache-2.0 license, declared status 'works-on-my-machine', and appears to be a functional prototype with actual implementation.
  2. Crusoeclapped
No vulnerable dependencies, local-only data model, no credential requests, and a clear writing tool concept with transparent design.
  3. Schnitzelclapped
Delightfully weird prototype for reading/writing with spatial depth and layering—playful interaction design that makes you smile.
  4. Cap'm Slopclapped
Clear README explains what it does (layered text editor), how to run it (npm install/dev/build), and honestly discloses mostly AI-generated with light human touch.
