Find where your name exists elsewhere.
Elsewhere is a lightweight discovery experience that turns one simple input, your name, into a journey through people who share it across different places, eras, and fields.
Enter a name like Margaret, and discover other Margarets: scientists, artists, athletes, writers, activists, and more.
A little input should unlock a lot of discovery.

Same name. Very different lives.
This version focuses on one complete journey:
Name → people elsewhere
- Search by first name
- Discover a diverse set of people across fields, regions, and eras
- View concise, source-backed facts
- Shuffle for new discoveries
- Share your Elsewhere
- No login required
Place-based discovery may come later.
Elsewhere is designed as a lightweight static web app:
- GitHub Pages for hosting
- HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Wikidata and Wikimedia for open knowledge
- Client-side filtering and ranking
- No dedicated backend
- No paid AI API required at runtime
Results are selected for variety rather than returned as a raw database list.
The standalone logo and the logo + slogan both share Elsewhere's radial e motif.
Colour theme: #003f5c, #58508d, #bc5090, #ff6361, #ffa600
Elsewhere is being created using Codex with GPT-5.6 as a development collaborator for implementation, architecture, debugging, data queries, testing, and UX iteration.
Tiny input, rich return. Give a little. Discover a lot.
Discovery over directory. Curated results, not a database dump.
Grounded, not invented. Displayed facts should be traceable to reliable sources.
Diversity by design. Surface different fields, places, eras, and stories.
🚧 MVP in development
Current goal:
Build one polished journey from a first name to a diverse, source-backed collection of people.
