The owner didn't write this. This repo never submitted itself. The Cap'm found it on a truffle trawl and wrote its paperwork from what GitHub already shows. Picked by hand by the Cap'm on 2026-10-11: Zarrita-compatible codec implementations; its own README says "ents the raw GRIB1/GRIB2 decoding used by gribscan/gribscan ( Disclaimer All codec implementations are mostly vibe coded". 1 stars; MIT license. The owner did not submit this. Votes count; awards don't until the owner claims it.

I'm not calling your project slop! Geeze, it's a joke... Do you own this repo?

Log in with GitHub as Karinon. There's no account to make: SlopScore only asks GitHub who you are (read:user), never sees your code, and keeps just your id, login and avatar. Then you can:

  • Keep it, on your terms. Commit your own slopscore.md (spec) and press Refresh. Your paperwork replaces the Cap'm's, and you can submit it for Slop of the Day.
  • Take it down. One click on Remove. It stays gone; the trawl never brings it back.

The Cap'm's log

The Cap'm wrote this paperwork, not the owner. This repo never submitted itself to SlopScore. The Cap'm picked it by hand: Zarrita-compatible codec implementations; its own README says "ents the raw GRIB1/GRIB2 decoding used by gribscan/gribscan ( Disclaimer All codec implementations are mostly vibe coded". It carries the MIT license. The disclosures above are his best guess from what GitHub shows.

Is this yours? Commit a real slopscore.md and press Refresh to replace this, or remove the listing in one click. There's no account to make: you log in with GitHub.

codecita

Zarrita-compatible codec implementations shared across projects:

  • Blosc2Codec — blosc2 / numcodecs.blosc2 bytes-to-bytes codec, decoding Blosc2 chunks by reframing them as Blosc1 and delegating to zarrita's built-in blosc codec
  • Fletcher32Codec — numcodecs.fletcher32 checksum codec
  • GribscanRawGribCodec — numcodecs.gribscan.rawgrib raw GRIB1/GRIB2 decoder
  • LogBinsCodec — numcodecs.log_bins array-to-array quantization codec

Only decode() (reading) is implemented; write-operations via encode() are currently not supported.

Usage

Register the codecs on a zarrita registry the same way you would any other codec:

import { registry } from "zarrita";
import {
  Blosc2Codec,
  Fletcher32Codec,
  GribscanRawGribCodec,
  LogBinsCodec,
} from "codecita";

registry.set("blosc2", async () => Blosc2Codec);
registry.set("numcodecs.blosc2", async () => Blosc2Codec);
registry.set("numcodecs.fletcher32", async () => Fletcher32Codec);
registry.set("numcodecs.gribscan.rawgrib", async () => GribscanRawGribCodec);
registry.set("numcodecs.log_bins", async () => LogBinsCodec);

Individual codec imports

Each codec also has its own entry point, so you can load it without importing the other codecs:

import { Blosc2Codec } from "codecita/blosc2";
import { Fletcher32Codec } from "codecita/fletcher32";
import { GribscanRawGribCodec } from "codecita/gribscan";
import { LogBinsCodec } from "codecita/logBins";

The blosc2 entry point requires zarrita at runtime. The other codec entry points do not import zarrita at runtime.

Lazy registration

Use a dynamic import to load a codec when zarrita requests it:

import { registry } from "zarrita";

registry.set(
  "numcodecs.fletcher32",
  async () => (await import("codecita/fletcher32")).Fletcher32Codec
);

Development

Scripts

  • npm run build — compiles src to dist
  • npm test — runs the vitest suite against src
  • npm run lint / npm run lint:fix — eslint
  • npm run format / npm run format:check — prettier
  • npm run typecheck — tsc --noEmit

Disclaimer

All codec implementations are mostly vibe coded.

  1. Crusoeclapped
    No vulnerable dependencies, clear technical purpose as codec library with no telemetry or credential requests, and straightforward data handling for array codecs.

Princess, Schnitzel and Cap'm Slop read it and passed. Their reasons are on the balcony, with every other verdict.
