Snatchr is a fast, lightweight video & audio downloader for Windows that lives in your system tray. Grab media from 1,000+ sites without opening a browser, fighting ads, or touching the command line — then trim, copy, and re-download in a couple of clicks.
No taskbar window, no clutter — Snatchr sits quietly in the system tray. Left-click the icon to open the app, right-click for quick actions (Paste a link, Open, Exit). While anything is downloading, the tray icon spins, and a green check pops when it's done.
The heart of Snatchr. Press Ctrl + E anywhere to summon a Spotlight-style launcher:
- Paste → done. Drop a link and it downloads in the background at best quality — no dialogs.
- Several downloads at once, each as its own row with a live progress bar and thumbnail.
- Unified history of everything you've downloaded (from the window, tray, or Spotlight) — with the source and resolution, newest on top.
- Trim on the spot — cut a clip with a frame filmstrip range slider and preview, then save it next to the original or copy it to the clipboard.
- One-click copy of any finished file, straight into a chat or Explorer.
The shortcut and dismiss behaviour are customizable in Settings.
Turn on clipboard watching and Snatchr keeps an eye out: copy a supported link and a little toast appears offering to grab it. Left-click to download in the background, right-click to dismiss. Finished downloads pop a success toast you can click to reveal the file.
Paste a link in the main window and Snatchr lists the available resolutions and codecs in its own selector — choose the one you want, or take audio only.
Open a finished download in the trimmer: drag the two handles along the frame filmstrip, preview the cut, then save it next to the original or copy it straight to the clipboard.
- 1,000+ sites — YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, Vimeo, Reddit, VK, Odnoklassniki, RuTube, and everything else
yt-dlpsupports. - Batch & playlists — paste many links at once; the window collapses and fetches them in the background.
- Trim by timecode — download just a section of a video (From / To).
- Editor-friendly convert — optionally re-encode YouTube videos into a clean, edit-ready MP4 (GPU-accelerated, CPU fallback).
- Cookies support — use your browser's login for private / age-restricted content (choose the browser in Settings).
- Themes — several looks including Glass, Dark Glass, and Blackout, switchable in Settings.
- Buttery UI — inertial macOS-style scrolling, smooth animations, and auto-scaling that stays crisp on 1080p, 1440p, and beyond.
- Zero-setup — automatically downloads and manages its own backend (
yt-dlp,ffmpeg) locally. No Python or terminal required. - Self-updating & single-instance — updates itself in place; only one copy ever runs.
- Windows 10 or later.
Download the latest .exe from the Releases page and run it — install it anywhere you like.
