For security reasons this repository does not include API keys.

Every user must:

• Create their own developer accounts
• Generate their own API keys
• Configure the .env file
• Keep their keys private

Without valid API keys, LyricScope will not function correctly.

The included .env.example file lists every required environment variable.

Before installing, make sure you have:

• Node.js 20 or newer
• npm (included with Node.js)
• Git

Download Node.js:

https://nodejs.org/

Verify installation:

node -v
npm -v

LyricScope works great with:

• Spotify
• MP3
• WAV
• FLAC
• OGG
• Desktop system audio
• USB audio devices
• Bluetooth headphones & speakers

For the smoothest visualizer experience:

• Update graphics drivers
• Close unnecessary background applications
• Use an SSD when possible
• Enable hardware acceleration

Clone the repository

Open the project

cd LyricScope

Install dependencies

npm install

Copy the example environment file.

Copy-Item .env.example .env

copy .env.example .env

cp .env.example .env

Open the newly created .env file and replace each placeholder with your own API credentials.

Example:

SPOTIFY_CLIENT_ID=your_client_id
SPOTIFY_CLIENT_SECRET=your_client_secret
SHAZAM_API_KEY=your_api_key

Refer to .env.example for every required variable.

Never commit:

.env

Never publish your API keys.

Only the following should be included in GitHub:

.env.example

Start the application:

npm run dev

Create an optimized production build:

npm run build

npm run preview

npm update

Install packages

npm install

Run development server

npm run dev

Production build

npm run build

Preview production build

npm run preview

Update dependencies

npm update

• Install Node.js
• Restart your terminal
• Verify with:

node -v
npm -v

npm install

Delete:

node_modules

Delete:

package-lock.json

Install again:

npm install

Verify that:

• Your API keys are valid
• .env exists
• Every required variable has been filled in
• You restarted the application after editing .env
